Akita-husky mix dog still unaccounted for after fire incident

A dog is still missing after two-story home was destroyed by fire on Adams Avenue

The two occupant of the home were safely removed with one minor injury but the family’s Akita-husky mix dog named Zoey can be found till now.

“The dog is presently missing,” said Det. Sgt. James Smith. “We fear the dog perished in the fire.”

The fire was said to have started about 5:36 a.m. at the 610 Adams Ave. residence.

Treatment was given to homeowner at the scene for a minor finger injury while neighboring home at 614 Adams Ave. was affected by the heat of the fire.

A neighboring home at 614 Adams Ave. did sustain siding damage from the fire’s heat.

Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
