A dog believed to be a pit bull was shot and killed by Boston police officer last night. The dog was said to have chased a young girl through Dorchester last night, police said.
Police said they received a call from the girl being chased down the street by the pit bull. The shooting happened at about 6 p.m. near the intersection of Washington and Armandine streets.
Police said the shooting is still under investigation but they were able to get the girl away from the animal, at which point police said they were forced to kill it.
No one was injured, police said.
