Bozeman Police Issue 296 Tickets For Unleashed Dogs

Posted on 11 October 2010

The Bozeman City Commission in Montana which recently released the information as an update on how leash-free rules in the city are working issued 296 tickets to people due to unrestrained dogs in the last year.

Lt. Rich McLane says Bozeman Pond leads the pack in being the city park with the most off-leash violations.

McLane tells the Bozeman Daily Chronicle that many people think the whole park is leash-free, but it’s really limited to an area called Canine Beach.

Officials say police have issued 679 tickets in all over the last year for all dog-related violations, including barking dogs, failing to clean up after a dog, and failing to license or vaccinate a dog.

Tickets come with a fine of $100, but that’s reduced to $50 if paid within 10 days.
