A 23 year-old was arrested by the police on charges of speeding, simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Adderall.

West Monroe police officer saw a 2004 Nissan driven by Brandon Thomas Griffin traveling north on Trenton Street in West Monroe at a high rate of speed in 30 mile zone early Friday morning. The car which had to be stopped was clocked 42 miles per hour.

According to the arrest affidavit, the vehicle was stopped. Due to Griffin’s signs of nervousness during the interview, the officer demanded to search him but denied a search of his vehicle.

The officer then released his K9 dog, Bear, to sniff the exterior of the vehicle. Bear alerted on the front passenger door of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, the officer found a wooden “dug out,” which contained suspected marijuana, a “one hitter” smoking pipe and three Adderall pills.

The suspect has refused to speak about the suspected marijuana and pipe and claimed to have got the pills from a friend. After his arrest about 2:04 a.m. on Friday, Griffin was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center.
